The Technology of Blackberry

RIM offers its own multi-tasking system (OS) and the BlackBerry, which makes heavy equipment used in specialized input devices, in particular the wheel. OS supports MIDP 1.0 and WAP 1.2.

Previous versions allowed wireless synchronization with Microsoft Exchange Server e-mail and calendar, and Lotus Domino e-mail. The current OS 4 provides a subset of MIDP 2.0, and allows complete wireless activation and synchronization with Exchange email, calendar, tasks, notes and contacts, and adds support for Novell GroupWise and Lotus Notes.

Third-party developers can write software using these APIs, and your BlackBerry APIs as well, but any application that uses a limited number of operations of the digital signature so that it can be connected to the account of the RIM developers. This signing procedure guarantees the authorship of application, but does not guarantee the quality or safety of code.

BlackBerry models before using C + + software development, but all current models of MDS and support universal support Java (J2ME using the set of libraries). Software development for BlackBerry is also available in Visual Studio. NET through AppForge Crossfire add-in that allows development in C # or VB.NET. A growing number of third-party commercial applications available for BlackBerry. These include applications for sales force automation, customer relationship management and remote administration. There is also a wide range of free third-party software available for Blackberry.

Although push e-mail is the main reason for the meteoric rise of the BlackBerry, the form factor and keypad make it as useful as any portable device on the market. With wheel combined with a QWERTY keyboard, you will write and move on the BlackBerry is much faster your Palm-toting friends. The new, consumer-oriented 7100 series has a small form factor and fewer buttons. To write using a keyboard, where more than one letter is assigned to a button, the 7100 uses a technology called SureType which predicts the words you write as you type. This feature is surprisingly effective, and RIM has promised to write more improvements in the corner.

Besides configuring the keyboard, the BlackBerry operating system offers a variety of combinations that advanced users will want to memorize. Built-in shortcuts for quick access to common programs and functions, not only allowing you to move faster but also reduces the battery usage. Although the keyboard is a breeze compared to other handhelds, you can create your own abbreviations to shorten common phrases. For example, you could set a short Autotype to include your mailing address when you type the address string addr in a text field.
